Select the invoices you want to pay, print the checks, and post the payments to your General Ledger.
Where: Accounts Payable → Select and Pay Invoices
Before you start
- The invoices must be entered — see Enter a vendor invoice.
- Want the board to approve payments first? Print the Abstract of Vouchers before this step — see A/P reports.
Step A — Select invoices to pay
1. Open Select and Pay Invoices. The Vendor Invoices Selection for Payments screen opens, waiting for you to choose a payment type (Check, ACH, Wire).

2. Click the Checks radio button to work with check payments.
3. Choose what to pay — a few ways:
- Easiest: click Set to mark all invoices for payment.
- By date: type a date in Up to a Projected Pay Date, then Set.
- By vendor: type a vendor name next to For a Vendor and click Set to mark all of that vendor's open invoices. You can select multiple vendors.
- You can also select by Voucher Number or Purchase Order number.
4. Click Set to load your selection.

5. Save by clicking Close.
> To undo a selection: press Reset (clears all) or Reset All to free up specific invoices so they can be edited or re-selected.
Step B — Print the checks
6. Confirm the Check date, Bank Account G/L number, and beginning Check number — change any if needed.

> Note: The check date is the date Enhanced uses to credit your cash accounts.
7. Click Print to open the Vendor Checks – Print Recap screen. Verify the total dollar amount. If it's wrong, press Cancel, return to Select and Pay Invoices, click Reset All, and fix the invoices (see Correct a vendor invoice).
8. Press Print. Checks appear first in Print Preview. Press the printer button on the ribbon toolbar to send them to the printer.

> Tip: You can also right-click the on-screen report for a print menu that lets you choose other available printers.
Step C — Post the payments
9. After printing, close the step. The Vendor Checks – Print Recap returns so you can reprint or Post.
10. Click Post. This updates vendor payment history and writes the journal entries: it debits the A/P account(s) and the appropriation (expense) account(s), and automatically credits the right cash account(s) (`200.1`, `200.3`, etc.) based on each invoice line — as of the check date.
→ Next step: Run your closing reports (Check Register, Paid Vouchers). Paying electronically instead? See Pay vendors by ACH or wire.
