- Appropriation account (Debit G/L) — the expense account a purchase is charged to. Debited when you enter an invoice.
- A/P accrual account (Credit G/L, the "600" accounts) — the "money we owe" account. Credited when you enter an invoice, debited when you pay it. Enhanced assigns the right one (e.g., `600.1`) automatically based on the fund — don't change it.
- Cash account (the "200" accounts) — your bank/checking account in the G/L. Credited when a payment's check date hits.
- Fund — a self-balancing set of accounts (e.g., General Fund A = fund 1, Highway = its own fund). Enhanced can cross funds on a single invoice.
- Post / Posting — the step that makes entries permanent in the General Ledger. Before posting, invoices can still be edited; after posting, they can't.
- Voucher number — Enhanced's internal sequence number for an invoice (e.g., `2022-7`). Auto-increments.
- Abstract of Vouchers — the report a board approves before payment; lists invoices to be paid.
- ACH / NACHA file — the electronic payment file (a `.txt` file in NACHA format) you upload to your bank to pay vendors without printing checks.
- Consolidated checking account — a single G/L bank account Enhanced uses as a clearing account for all checks (e.g., `200.96` for A/P, `200.99` for payroll).
- T&A (Trust & Agency) — the fund used for money you collect and pass through to an agency (e.g., retirement withholding).
- Commit — for handwritten checks: the step that writes them into the system (similar to posting).
- Ribbon toolbar — the row of buttons across the top of each Enhanced screen.
- 1099 vendor — a supplier who must receive a 1099 form; flag these on the vendor's Accounting tab.
