Accounts Payable · Getting set up · v12
Enter starting/historical invoices (optional — first-time setup only)
Record old invoices for history without disturbing your General Ledger beginning balances. First-time setup only.
When you first start using Enhanced, this records old invoices for history without letting them disturb your General Ledger beginning balances.
Where: System Initialization/Setup → AP/AR Invoice Startup
When to use this
Use it only at initial startup, for invoices dated before your beginning-balance cut-off date. Don't use it for invoices dated after the cut-off — enter those normally (see Enter a vendor invoice).
Background
When you start the system, you enter beginning balances for your G/L accounts as of a cut-off date (often a fiscal year or period end). Any A/P invoices dated before that cut-off are already baked into those beginning balances, so they should be marked as already posted to the G/L.
Steps
1. Open System Initialization/Setup → AP/AR Invoice Startup.
2. Run Supplier Invoice Startup. This marks the older open invoices so they won't post to the General Ledger and change your beginning balances.

> What it's for: building supplier history without double-counting. It should not be run for invoices dated after the beginning-balance cut-off.
→ Next step: Once startup is done, enter all current bills the normal way — Enter a vendor invoice.
